Chapter 1: Chronicles Of A Zulu Kasi Princess (Page 13)

Giving someone a piece of your soul is better than giving a piece of your heart. Because souls are eternal – Helen Boswel

The police entered Nando’s restaurant abruptly after Tshepo hit Lindiwe with a warm clap and fought with the manager. Tshepo cared less; as long as is princess Lindiwe who is taking him to jail, its fine; he said I can go rot in jail for you “Linda”.

The fall out between Peter and Tshepo started when Tshepo did not want to leave the restaurant, creating drama for the rest of the customers to see. Being ignored by one person he loved and held dearly in his heart made Tshepo a beast that night. He heard the news that Lindiwe is leaving Gauteng in two months’ time, also someone told him about the manager who swiftly made a move towards his baby mama. The time he spend in Nando’s with his colleagues; he could not stand seeing Peter looking at Lindiwe like they are dating. Hence the spoiled brat turned the restaurant into a tavern, Tshepo was stubborn and not frightened by anything especially with her woman.

Ntate khalemega , we will lock you up said the police officer surprised by this sophisticated guy who is fighting for a girl. While they try to block him, “he is busy swearing at the back, - you will never fuck him like I do – I am the one who broke her virginity! In every situation he wanted to be the first in everything hence he made sure that he impregnates her twice after being angry about Sihle. He spoke to one police officer who had a big mouth; please leave me? He begged and bribed the police officers with R5000. They took the money and left the situation sorted; despite the fact that he is waiting for Lindiwe outside.

Boipelo asked Peter for the last time breathing heavily, so you cannot take us home. No I cannot ... that dumb is waiting outside, let your friend go and talk to him – they look like they know each other well. Peter was disappointed to learn that Lindiwe shares two children with Tshepo. It was not the first time he is seeing him; and before Lindiwe joined them, Tshepo and his friends used to bring different girls in the shop to spend and display their achievements.

Dumbstruck Lindiwe is standing next to the door, embarrassed and humiliated holding a letter terminating her contract for making the place unsafe for other workers. She had wished she had never met uTshepo. Now her dreams are shuttered and she is not sure if she will live after this day. And she realises that it’s actually not over or what you call this, her mind is hovering looking for reasons.

Boipelo goes outside to speak to uTshepo and understands the behaviour behind the ruthlessness. But why are you doing this to my friend? What do you want from her? She enquired hoping to find answers. Your friend ke skhebereshe, she is busy ignoring my calls and all I want is to see my kids. Now she thinks she’s better ever since she started working here; acting like she’s a virgin. Tshepo burbed the Hennesy.

Something in his assertions assembled the regrets and displeasures that killed the zeal and will to live. He also does not know how he ended up here, because his colleagues suggested to go to Kream in Brooklyn. Perhaps he wanted to see Lindiwe for the last time; before he settles into his marriage. The worst fear of his life was not to lose his kids but their mothers. He could not stay sober after what he had said to Ntiseng the other day. He did not know why he’s now flourishing in his career yet his relationships were suffering. Who is he choosing between Lindiwe and Nteseng? Is he willing to let Lindiwe experience life in London without him?

While sitting with Boipelo in his new car, he expressed how he felt about Lindiwe. And confessed that he is married with two kids. I feel so shitty Boipelo, I feel like I am a bad person. A bad father. A bad son.  I mean my son is living somewhere in a two-bedroom shack longing for a home and here I am sulking beating their mom for making ends met. I have four children, three girls and one boy.

Tell me why your friend has got so much pride, he asked Boipelo. I mean she thinks like shes all that these days ever since she knows how to put on a roll on. Did she tell you about the first time we met. Everything she knows about a man today; I taught her. My mother is a woman of God, I was taught and raised in Christian values. In his drunkenness he said: its not right. This is not the life she had wished for me.and now she keeps on dreaming my son, I can’t even tell her the truth.

Boipelo enjoyed the smell of a new car, decent scent, her ice tropex and the conversation. In her silly mind, she wished this guy could kiss her. She was always jealous of the kind of man her friend dated because she inwardly convinced herself that, had it not been her skin tone, she was prettier than her friend. She tried to bath-mouth her but Tshepo did not listen.

Walking slowly towards the car, handing over herself is Lindiwe – Boipelo said, oooh here she comes, Princess Linda. Tshepo’s eyes could not believe it. His legs were shaking and lips was starting to soften up and become juicy.

Oooh my princess, he said rushing to open a door for her. eish Boipelo please let her come in the front.May you please move for my Queen.  It was difficult for Lindiwe to believe what’s happening. Its ten o’clock and she’s here with Boipelo and Tshepo discussing how no man will ever have her.

She drowned her sorrows in the wine Tshepo left in the cooler box. To keep herself light and lively. The atmosphere changed, the three of them were laughing talking about the past. They dropped Boipelo at her house and curled, kissed and made up in the car parked outside Aunty Betty’s house.
