Chapter 1: Chronicles Of A Zulu Kasi Princess (Page 7)

“Love them all but trust no one”

But some husbands are so cruel tjo, they will marry you just so they can strip you naked in front of the whole world said Tony, Ntiseng’s best-friend. Yesterday my friend called me after work saying that she’s been fighting again with her hubby. The Nissan white van smelled  of a strong vinegar and chips and eating Sphahlo with a gruesome energy, leaving no stone unturned is Yandiswa, the sister-in-law of Tony her answers to the breaking story was "eeer ja neh".

They both worked at Katlegong police station as police officers. Every Monday there was mgozi around lunch time mostly about Ntiseng, as she called her friend, every now and then when she’s experiencing marital problems.

She wore her heart on her sleeve when she’s with Tony because she knew that she also had a fair share of side chicks she dealt with. Besides they are childhood friends. But she was not aware that her news travels fast after telling her best friend. So Yandiswa inquired, what happened now? Aaai aii that guy is just a nonsense. What is she holding onto?

But Yandi, do you know love? love is blind - I am from there, though mine respected me shame,  Ntiseng found a picture of another girl in his phone, just ask me-so I can tell you more.Yes, oooh yes, please bring everything on the table. The picture was taken in their bedroom, the head-board and surrounding behind is exactly their bedroom. Jehovah but this guy, exclaimed Yandiswa:  what’s gotten into his mind? Tony replied: yoh wena, her world is crumbling as we speak. But she does not listen, remember the time we were with her, counselling and making plans for her survival.Clearly abuse imprison women.

Tony enjoyed reporting bad news about her best-friend. After so many years she’s been with Ntiseng, she held a grudge of when they were still teenagers. Tony was struggling with obesity but her friend used to tease her about her body, and she behaved superior “holier than thou” just to make others feel inferior. Her little insecure self-believed that she deserves it, because at some point in her life she cried herself to sleep because of a friend who rejected and ridiculed her.

Every time Ntiseng tells Toni her problems, she inwardly threw a party to celebrate the downfall and misery warping in her friend’s life. She was not willing to let the sleeping dogs lie instead she freed the cat out of the bag, every time she gets an opportunity. In her neighborhood, most people knew about the cheating stories of Ntiseng's husband, that there is a friend of hers no matter how much she spends on looking good, expensive perfumes and clothes to charm the husband,  every hour she cried to the news of a new side-chick who threatens her peace of mind. She was a recipient of hurt, humiliation and hopelessness within a marriage. Traditional teachings she has learnt from the african initiation school about strengthening marriage were failing her. On top of that, she had friends like Tony, whom she trusted but they were untrustworthy.

The world for Ntiseng is empty yet there’s a trillion people in it. Depression and the voices of the girls who called daily looking for her man were biting her hope. To stay or not to stay in this marriage, she knew something great will come after years of torment and hardships. Looking back, she had survived and defied against all odds. She always thought that if she knew the pain of repossessing her beautiful house, cars and other valuable things in her life, then no greater pain will come to end her. The joy of starting all over again with her husband; huge debts under their name, and she always told her mentees that it was all worth it because she walked the painful path with someone she loved. Always she credited her husband  for strength and strong characteristics encircled in their journey. "with other things i know i can rely on him" she said doubting the words coming out of her mouth every time she spoke about their marriage.
